What we’re doing :Differently in 2020

A message from one of our co-founders, Mina Radhakrishnan.

We started :Different a few years ago to rebuild property management. The home should be a sanctuary and we witnessed first hand how the traditional way of property management simply wasn’t working for anyone — landlords, tenants, tradespeople and even property managers weren’t satisfied, let alone happy. 

So, we made it our mission to change this and become great at taking care of homes and the people who live in them.

Leaning on the tech expertise gathered from our time spent at Uber, Google and beyond, we’re continuing to build a company that combines the best of people and technology. The result: a different and better full-service property management offering that our customers love. 

This approach has allowed us to quickly grow. In two and a half years, we’ve expanded our presence into Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and we now have more than $1 billion worth of property under our management.

But we’ve only just started.

Earlier this month we raised $7.1 million from leading investors to help us continue to change the property management industry. 

These are unprecedented times and it gives us comfort that we’ve been able to quickly adapt to what has been going on in the world - whether it’s moving our entire company to a WFH model overnight to offering 3D tours and virtual inspections. In a world of physical distancing and emotional stress, our technology has allowed us to continue providing high-quality customer experiences in the real world. This validates our belief that great property management is not about picking up the phone faster or replying to an email more quickly. It’s about not having to make the phone call or send the email in the first place.

This latest round of funding will see us grow our team and continue to expand our technology, so that we can provide you with a fair, transparent and delightful experience. 

We also want to be able to help more people around Australia. Earlier this year we expanded our operations into the Gold Coast, and now we have our eyes set on Perth and Canberra. And don’t worry SA, TAS and NT, we haven’t forgotten about you. We aim to have a national presence in the coming years. In every city we expand into it’s important for us to have the right team on the ground with local knowledge and we acknowledge that this takes time to build.

We know for most Australians, their home is their most important asset, one of their largest expenditures or both. We want to remove the common pain points both property owners and renters face, which can only be done with people who care, and technology that streamlines processes.

We have big plans for the rest of 2020 and we’re excited to keep doing awesome stuff for the many owners and renters who rely on us.
